Jamie xx’s new song “Sleep Sound” may sound familiar to die-hard fans. He originally debuted it last year during BBC Radio 6 Music’s 6 Mix Resident DJs. But, this is officially the first time fans and admirers alike will get a chance to hear the track in its entirety.
The song, which will be available via a new double A-side 12″ called “Girl”/”Sleep Sound,” out May 5 on Young Turks, is a lush mix of twinkly harpsichord, warped beats and a female singer who aggressively lulls you into dreamland.
Jamie and his xx bandmates, Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim, are currently finishing out a residency at New York’s Park Avenue Armory. The shows have the band, whose last album Coexist, came out in 2012, playing with the idea of space.
Jamie has some scheduled DJ dates coming up, including on on March 28 in New York before he heads overseas.
