Lorde Asks Fans to Fight Back Against Westboro Baptist Church with Same-Sex Kisses
By Scott T. Sterling
Welcome to America, Lorde.
The New Zealand sensation has quickly been ushered into all sorts of American traditions, from the good (catching her first NBA game, winning a GRAMMY before the age of 18) to the bad (the internet going nuts over her relationship with James Lowe).
Now, the “Royals” singer is being initiated into another American tradition with her first protest from the eternally exhausting Westboro Baptist Church, which plans on protesting the Pure Heroine‘s show in Kansas City on March 21.
The reason why you ask? The Church was upset over a recent Australian radio appearance, where she criticized a DJ for implying there was “something wrong with lesbians.”
In typical Lorde fashion, she took the picketing news in stride, cheekily directing her Kansas City fans to greet any potential protestors with open arms and pursed lips.
“Everyone wear rainbow clothing to that show,” she cracked on Twitter in a series of now-deleted messages (via Billboard). “Everyone try to kiss church members who are same sex as you they will so love it.”
So who’s bringing the ChapStick?
