Lady Gaga to Headline Intimate Show at SXSW
By Annie Reuter
Despite the city of Austin putting the official kibosh on a proposed Lady Gaga performance in a small parking lot during South By Southwest Music, Film Interactive Festival, Mother Monster has found a way to give her fans an intimate, one of a kind performance.
On March 13, the singer is set to headline an outdoor concert at Stubb’s, which will hold only 2,200 Little Monsters, Billboard reports.
In order to gain access to the show, Gaga and Doritos are giving fans a series of challenges, which they dub “Bold Missions.”
“We believe in boldness,” the Doritos website states. “And we think the world needs more of it. Much more. So we’re giving you a chance to prove if you have what it takes to live boldly. Step up to a challenge, prove your boldness and you could be rewarded. Get ready. The Bold Missions are here.”
Today (March 6), Gaga announced the first challenge, called “Bold Bravery,” via YouTube explaining, “Only people who prove their boldness are able to get in. Share a picture or video that expresses your individuality through a bold action. What bold thing have you done that makes you stand out?”
“I hope everyday to inspire my fans to follow their dreams, hold their talents precious and go for it,” she told Billboard. “Doritos is supporting this same message. I always say, ‘I hope to spread love with every invention,’ and I’m excited to see how the crowd at SXSW will spread their own mantras.”
SXSW Music and Platinum badge-holders and attendees with artist wristbands will also be asked to perform their own Bold Missions at the Austin Convention Center on March 11 and March 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT in order to gain access to the show. For more details, visit SXSW.com.
