Watch The Avett Brothers Perform ‘Skin and Bones’ on the ‘Tonight Show’

By Paul de Revere

The Avett Brothers hit the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon stage last night (March 5) in support of the band’s latest release, 2013’s Magpie and the Dandelion to perform “Skin and Bones.”

With magpies flying behind them, the band pulled out all the rootsy stops from a banjo to an upright bass, for an intimate performance of the ballad.

The brothers, Seth and Scott Avett, traded vocals throughout the track, though it was hard to focus too much on the music at times with Seth’s memorizing Pocahontas braids.

The band also premiered their new music video, “Morning Song,” with a little help from Fallon. Watch below as the band brings the stripped down song to life in the studio with images of nature intertwined with closeups of the Avett Brothers harmonizing.

The Avett Brothers are currently on tour promoting their 2013 release, Magpie and the Dandelion. For a complete list of tour dates, visit their website.
