The track, which the two premiered onstage this past Friday (Feb. 28) in England, has Bastille frontman Dan Smith singing, “I fall into your arms again,” before Haze joins him onstage to spit about using her voice as a weapon. Watch below.
In an interview with Radio.com last month, Bastille said that they handpicked Haze to join them as their opening act through March and were working on a hip-hop production side project that Haze is involved in, via some online collaboration. Perhaps this is what first sparked “Weapon.”
“I think I’m interested to hear what people say because a lot of our fans might not be necessarily thinking that they’ll like it,” Smith said of the project. “But I think they will.”
The guys also admitted that they’re big fans of Haze and her recent fight against her record label. She famously leaked her debut album, Dirty Gold, late last year in order to push up the release of her record and more recently has found a new fan in Kanye West.
“I actually met my fx$king idol last night,” Angel wrote on Twitter today (March 3) and posted a picture with West. Last year, Angel did put her own spin on ‘Ye’s Yeezus tracks “New Slaves” and “Black Skinhead.”
