It’s Official: Taylor Swift Is ‘In The Studio’
By Radio.com Staff
Rumors, hints and tidbits of information have been flying around for months already that Taylor Swift is preparing to record and perhaps release a new album this year. And now it’s official: According to a tweet sent today (Feb. 27) by her label Big Machine, the “22″ singer is indeed “in the studio.”
The message came in reply to a fan who asked via Twitter if Swift had “any new songs or albums coming up in the near future?” And the answer simply was: “She is in the studio ;)”

This is the second hint that Taylor is working on her follow-up to Red. On Valentine’s Day, she posted a photo to Instagram of her drinking champagne and eating sweets with Max Martin and Johan Schuster, better known as Shellback, with the caption “It’s a studio Valentine’s Day.” Both those guys helped her go a little more pop on Red with the songs “22,” “I Knew You Were Trouble” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”
Swift’s last album, which, when released in 2012, became one of the fastest- and best-selling albums in any genre in ages. Her massive Red Tour across North America last year, which included many stadium dates, was also among the highest-grossing outings of 2013.
Swift has been working on songs for this next album for a while now. “I think the goal for the next album is to continue to change, and never change in the same way twice,” she said during award ceremony last fall. “How do I write these figurative diary entries in ways that I’ve never written them before and to a sonic backdrop that I’ve never explored before? It’s my fifth album, which is crazy to think about, but I think what I’m noticing about it so far is it’s definitely taking a different turn than anything I’ve done before.”
This year Swift has been performing a handful of global dates, including stops in England and Australia, and she’s now even scheduled some shows in Southeast Asia. She also took some time this past month to get a haircut. She is also one of five Entertainer of the Year nominees at the upcoming 2014 Academy of Country Music Awards.
