By Scott T. Sterling
Rihanna is one of the hardest working women in music right now. When she’s not rolling out hits singles and planning U.S. mega-tours with Eminem, she’s suddenly popping up onstage in Paris with Drake.
Now, “The Monster” singer is working on a new concept album based around the upcoming animated DreamWorks movie, Home, due in theaters this year. Jim Parsons, Jennifer Lopez and Steve Martin are among the actors who will provide the voices for the film’s characters.
According to Variety, Rihanna will perform several of the new songs in the movie, which is currently tagged with a Nov. 26 release date (the day before Thanksgiving), putting it right in the heart of holiday season.
The movie, which was originally titled Happy Smekday!, is based on book The True Meaning of Smekday by author Rex Smith.
Pop music and animated movies had quite a successful run in 2013, most notably for Pharrell Williams. His music for Despicable Me 2 catapulted him to the top of the charts with the song “Happy,” which is also nominated for the Best Original Song Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards happening this Sunday, March 2.
