Throughout the promotion of Prism, Katy Perry has been a lot of things. She’s been a geisha, a goth, an Amazon, a significant other, a superhuman and now she’s Cleopatra. Or, rather, the magical, wrathful queen known as Katypatra. And as she’s said before, you don’t want to make her your enemy.
For the new clip, Perry enlisted one of the most lauded music video directors currently in the game, Matthew Cullen, to helm the video. The duo have worked together before, on her “California Gurls” video but he’s probably best known for the Guinness World Record he set for getting the most memes into one music video with Weezer’s “Pork and Beans” — the very definition of a viral video.
With Katy, it’s less about memes and more about over the top costumes from hieroglyphic wigs, bejeweled grillz and goldplated minis. Juicy J, who arrives in King Tut’s tomb, stops by to see if he can win Katy’s hand. But in the end Katy would rather turn the guys to stone than her husband.
