Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” was a ubiquitous earwig once and Ludacris is aiming to make it happen once again.
The Atlanta rapper dropped the new party jam that lifts liberally from the song’s lyrics and feel today on Hip Hop Weekly. While the words are a callback to that ’90s jam, the production is another matter entirely.
This dance floor slow jam also features a verse from Wiz Khalifa and a little crooning from Jeremih, who sings an ode to the male love for certain plastic-surgery enhanced parts of the female anatomy.
It also features a sensual beat from Cashmere Cat, a new addition to the Ludaverse. Known to his mom as Magnus August Høiberg, the Norwegian DJ has garnered attention for his remixes of Lana Del Rey and 2 Chainz.
The track is reportedly from Ludacris’s forthcoming album, Ludaversal, which has no set release date as of now.
In the meantime, those Luda fans looking for a fix can check out his 2013 mixtape #IDGAF featuring tracks produced by DJ Mustard, Mike WiLL Made It and a closing track that boasts appearances from Meek Mill, Chris Brown, Swizz Beatz and Pusha T.
