Watch Barry Gibb Perform with The Roots on ‘Fallon’
By Shannon Carlin
Gibb—introduced here as Barry effin’ Gibb— showed that even after more than 50 years, he can still hit those high notes with no problem.
He also showed that after years off touring, he’s ready to hit the road this May when he kicks of his six-date Mythology tour.
Gibb sat down to talk with Fallon, who geeked out a little as he talked about his Saturday Night Live skit, “The Barry Gibb Talk Show.” So was it weird for Gibb to make a cameo in the skit on last year’s Christmas episode of SNL?
“What was odd was looking at myself 30 years ago,” Gibb joked, adding that he’s been forbidden to wear white since those days.
Gibb also talked about catching up with Paul McCartney, who also appeared on the show that night, admitting that the two have only met twice in their lifetime, the first time was in 1967 in London after his band had a bad show. He hadn’t seen him since, begging the question, how bad was that show?
But Gibb only had nice things to say about the former Beatles. “He’s my hero,” Gibb said. “He’s the kind of songwriter that we follow all our lives.”
Watch Fallon and Gibb jam together on the Everly Brothers‘ “Bye Bye Love,” “Wake Up Little Susie” and “All I Have To Do Us Dream” below.
