Following the release of his 2013 album The Marshall Mathers LP 2, Eminem is reportedly returning to the studio to record with his Detroit rap group, D12.

According to a profile of producer Mark Bass in the Detroit Free Press (via NME), the frequent Eminem-associate “says he has also been mixing new material by the mercurial funk-pop giant Sly Stone with members of the original Family Stone band, along with new D12 tracks, including three with Eminem.”

Bass has worked with Eminem in the past, especially with his brother Jeff as The Bass Brothers. The two have produced, among many others, the hit singles “Without Me”, “Beautiful” and “Lose Yourself.”

D12 has released two albums, 2001 Devil’s Night and 2004 D12 World, which featured the hit single “My Band”. The group have been quiet since the murder of group member Proof in 2006. The rapper was killed by gunfire in an incident at a Detroit nightclub.
