Are Miguel, Jessie Ware & J. Cole Teaming Up For a New Song?
By Shannon Carlin
For anyone who follows Miguel on Instagram you may have noticed an interesting pic he posted today (Jan. 22) of him and a few friends in a recording studio. Those friends being Jessie Ware and J.Cole.
The photo—taken by Miguel—features Cole and a very surprised Ware, along with producer Benny Blanco, who is hiding in the background. Blanco has worked with Katy Perry, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Bruno Mars, Britney Spears and, most recently, Lea Michele.
It doesn’t take Sherlock Holmes to presume that these four are cooking up something big for 2014. Especially keeping in mind that Miguel’s Instagram has been known to foreshadow upcoming collaborations including Mariah Carey, who he worked with on her “#Beautiful,” and Beyoncé, who he worked with on her latest album.
Cole and Ware aren’t new to collaboration either. On Cole’s latest album, Born Sinner, he worked with TLC and Amber Coffman from the Dirty Projectors, and teamed up with Drake for his song “Jodeci Freestyle.” Ware has recently worked with Disclosure and Katy B on songs on their respective albums.
Last year Ware also told Radio.com she was already writing new songs for her follow-up to her 2012 debut, Devotion, saying this time around she’s “going to take a few more risks.” Perhaps that means teaming up with Miguel and Cole?
Last year, Miguel took home the GRAMMY for Best R&B Song with “Adorn” off his 2012 album, Kaleidoscope Dream. More recently he’s released a new Adult Swim track “Can’t Sleep Together” and wrote an exclusive track for the upcoming Girls Volume 2 soundtrack called “simplethings.”
