Hear Beck’s New Song ‘Blue Moon’
By Shannon Carlin
The track, off his upcoming album, Morning Phase, out February 25, is his first new original song in six years and has the singer mellowing out a bit. With a little help from an acoustic guitar, mandolin and twinkling keys, he makes a case for a little human connection singing, “I’m so tired of being alone” and “Don’t leave me on my own.”
The song, which will be featured in an upcoming episode of Girls, is the first single from Beck’s 12th album, Morning Phase, his first release in over five years and according to a statement is “a companion piece of sorts to Beck’s 2002 classic Sea Change.” Beck himself though has been quick though to refute the claims that it’s a sequel to Sea Change.
But after hearing the full album at a special listening in L.A. late last year, we here at Radio.com thought it did have a bit of a Sea Change feel to it. We also were so impressed by what we heard that we declared it among the Best Albums of 2014, calling it “the sound of surviving that tumultuous heartbreak, and being able to look back on it with more fondness than regret, older, wiser and through the forgiving patina of time.”
