Vanessa Carlton Marries Deer Tick’s John McCauley, With Help from Stevie Nicks

On Friday night (Dec. 27), singer Vanessa Carlton and Deer Tick frontman John McCauley tied the knot in a private ceremony that was officiated by none other than Stevie Nicks.

Yes, along with being a singer and an actress — she’ll appear on American Horror Story next year — Nicks is also an ordained minister.

A few hours after getting hitched, Carlton — who recruited Nicks for the song “The One” on her 2007 album, Heroes & Thieves — tweeted her thanks to the Fleetwood Mac singer with a photo from the ceremony.

Carlton and McCauley, who recently recorded the duet “In Our Time” for Deer Tick’s latest album Negativity, met through Patrick Hallahan, the drummer for My Morning Jacket.

“He introduced us after I went on Vanessa’s Twitter and said, ‘Hey, VC let’s get a beer,'” McCauley told the Associated Press (via Billboard). “I had just figured out how to use Twitter so I was really proud of myself.”

McCauley later posted a photo of himself with his new bride and the “Honorable Reverend Stevie Nicks.”

He also got a shot of Nicks signing their marriage license to prove the whole thing was legit.

In October, the “A Thousand Miles” singer was forced to cancel a number of tour dates after being diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy, a condition where an embryo implants somewhere other than the uterus. She later underwent emergency surgery to remove her right fallopian tube. Carlton will hit the road again in February.

Deer Tick are kicking off a European tour on Jan. 16 in Ireland behind their latest album before returning to the States in March.
