It’s been a while, but Brantley Gilbert is finally releasing new music. Late last night (Dec. 16), the Georgia singer posted a message on both his Facebook and Twitter accounts that simply noted the new song title (“Bottoms Up”) and was accompanied it with a link to iTunes. What fans got to hear was his first brand-new song in more than three years.

On top of that, Gilbert accompanied the release of the new single with a Prohibition-themed music video (watch it above) that shows the singer and his accomplices decked out in vintage duds as they prepare to party and, if need be, rumble with the law.

The video begins showing Gilbert and his crew loading moonshine into an antique car. A group of bodyguards then follow behind as they drive to their destination: a Gatsby-inspired party at a mansion in the middle of nowhere. Inside, though, the scene transforms into a modern-day shindig with Gilbert dressed in his leather jacket and sporting numerous rings and chains.

While in the video Gilbert is dressed up, the song shows he’s maintaining his familiar bad-to-the-bone image. “Bottoms Up” is not a hard Southern rocker in the vein of previous Gilbert hits like “Country Must Be Country Wide” and “Kick It in the Sticks,” but even with a slower tempo and lower-key vocal melody, the song still exhibits a gritty, dark-edged tone. And that murky chorus will be stuck in your head for days:

Kick it on back, pretty little mama lookin’ at you like that
Make you wanna slide on in like girl what’s up
Tonight it’s bottoms up

“Bottoms Up” is the first single from Gilbert’s next album, which has no title or release date yet but is expected to drop in early 2014.

Jodi Phillips of CBS Charlotte’s The New 103.7 contributed to this story.
