Eminem’s latest collaboration with Rihanna is appropriately titled, with “The Monster” already a massive smash on radio and the charts. The single recently hit No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100, dethroning Miley Cyrus’  “Wrecking Ball” in the process, and now the release of its video is sure to help “The Monster” clinch the top spot once more this week.

The splashy video features Rihanna as Eminem’s therapist. She observes the Detroit rapper as he watches a series of images from his life, including his daughter Hailie, ex-wife Kim and references to his past bouts with addiction.

Those shots are juxtaposed against scenes of the rapper traveling through various eras of his professional history, including images that recall Dr. Dre, the movie 8 Mile and his much-discussed GRAMMY awards show performance with Elton John.

The new video debuted simultaneously online as well as on cable television, with clips of “The Monster” being shown during ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown show right before tonight’s (Dec. 16) hotly contested Monday Night Football game in Detroit, with the hometown Lions taking on the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens in a high-profile NFL match-up.
