As announced today (December 12), this year’s Golden Globe nominees for Best Original Song include a former wicked witch, an ex-boy bander, a past winner, a country-pop queen and stadium rockers who are new to the soundtrack game.

Justin Timberlake, along with his Inside Llewyn Davis castmates Oscar Isaac and Adam Drive, earned a nomination for the song “Please Mr. Kennedy,” from the film about the ’60s folk scene.

Ten years after winning the Golden Globe for their Gangs of New York song “The Hands That Built America,” U2 are once again up for the honor, thanks to their song “Ordinary Love” from the Nelson Mandela biopic, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. This is the band’s first new song in three years.

Coldplay also earned a nom for their song “Atlas” from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. It’s the first song the band has ever written specifically for a film, and also their first new track since 2011′s Mylo Xyloto.

Taylor Swift also garnered a nom for “Sweeter Than Fiction,” her song with fun.’s Jack Antonoff featured in the documentary, One Chance. The doc focuses on Paul Potts, a shy shop worker by day and an amateur opera singer by night, who won Britain’s Got Talent in 2007.

Broadway star Idina Menzel, best known for playing Elphaba in the musical Wicked, is nominated for her song “Let It Go” from the animated Disney flick, Frozen.

Last year, Adele took home the prize for Best Original Song for “Skyfall,” from the Bond film of the same name.

Additionally, Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto finds himself with a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, facing off against Michael Fassbender (12 Years a Slave), Daniel Brühl (Rush), Bradley Cooper (American Hustle) and Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips).

As for the rest of this year’s nominations, 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle lead the way for movies with seven nominations each, including Best Picture. While in TV,  Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey and new show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine earned top honors.

Hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for the second year in a row, the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards airs January 12 on NBC.
