In her new video for “Perfume,” off her latest album, Britney Jean, Britney Spears proves what you see isn’t always what you get.
The clip starts with Britney and her guy looking all lovey dovey as they drink beer on a motel roof and take a dip in the public pool. But soon enough we realize, Britney isn’t this guy’s girlfriend, she’s the other woman.
Britney says the song was taken from her own life, explaining, “Everyone’s been through an insecure moment in a relationship that’s left them vulnerable and I think this song captures that.”
The video also captures that moment of uncertainty, showing Britney’s devastation when she finds a text message from someone else on her guy’s phone.
With a song called “Perfume,” you can’t blame Britney for plugging one of her 13 fragrances. She spritzes herself with her citrusy scent, Hidden Fantasy, as she sings, “I’ll never tell, tell on myself but I hope she smells my perfume.”
And from the amount Britney uses, that girl is bound to know she’s not the only lady in this guy’s life.
Britney kicks off her new Vegas show, Britney: Piece of Me, on December 27.
