Mary J. Blige is setting a new bar for loungewear in her video for The Sound of Music classic “My Favorite Things” off her very first holiday album, A Mary Christmas.
The R&B singer dons a sparkly winter white floorlength gown and a diamond encrusted helmet to sing about snowflakes that stay on her nose and eyelashes and fawn over silver white winters that melt into springs.
Throughout the clip, Blige barely leaves the comforts of her chaise lounge, maybe in fear that she’ll wrinkle one of her beautiful gowns. But with some a voice like that, Mary J deserves to sit back and relax a little.
In honor of her new album, Blige has performed Christmas carols all over the place, previewing her album on HSN and performing in a Seattle Starbucks to the delight of the store’s baristas, local activists and several young women participating in YWCA, which receives a cut of the store’s profits.
Tonight (Dec. 4), Blige will get a chance to perform more hits off her new Christmas album at the 81st annual lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. The special, airing on NBC at 8 p.m. EST, will also feature performances from Mariah Carey, Jewel, Ariana Grande, Toni Braxton, Babyface, Goo Goo Dolls and Kelly Clarkson.
