Style Files: Drake Partnering With Nike and Air Jordan

By Jeremy D. Larson

As Shakespeare once wrote, “The funeral baked meats did coldly furnish forth the marriage tables.” That’s pretty much the situation here in the shoe game, for just as Kanye West announced his dissatisfaction and severing of ties with Nike, they picked up probably the rapper with the next highest cultural capital right now: Drake.

Consequence of Sound reports that last night in Portland, Drake announced his partnership with Air Jordan, a division of Nike. “Today also happens to be one of the best days of my life,” he told the crowd. “So today, I came to Portland and officially became inducted into the Team Jordan family.”

While there’s no official press release, Drake’s proclamation was also confirmed by Air Jordan’s official Twitter account:

Drake later posted some of his shows on his Instagram account, sporting his OVO insignia on the sole (be sure to note the bonus Nothing Was The Same monogrammed throw pillows).
