Pioneering hip-hop producer Timbaland has released new song “Know Bout Me,” which features verses from rap heavyweights Drake and Jay Z as well as contributions from hit songwriter James Fauntleroy, who has crafted tracks for Justin Timberlake, Rihanna and more.
Timbaland first teased the superstar collaboration in Birmingham, England during an opening set for Jay Z on Oct. 8 during the European leg of the rapper’s Magna Carta Holy Grail tour.
The song will likely be included on the upcoming Timbaland artist album, which the producer announced will be called Textbook Timbo while again opening for Jay-Z, this time at a show in Belgium (via Rap-Up).
That same night in Belgium, Timbaland previewed another Jay Z collaboration, “Bounce,” while spinning at New York Yankees star Robinson Cano’s birthday party.
It was the same birthday celebration where Jay Z has been accused of giving Cano a limited-edition Shawn Carter Classic Fusion watch by Swedish watchmaker Hublot as a gift. The controversy comes with the fact that Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports agency represents Cano, and such gift-giving between agent and client are strictly forbidden by Major League Baseball.
