Taylor Swift wrapped up the U.S. leg of her RED Tour last month and has been hinting at new music on the way. Today (October 21), fans heard one of the songs she’s been working on.

The track, “Sweeter than Fiction,” sounds like it’s straight out of the ’80s with its synth-heavy beats and vocals that tell a tale of triumph that recalls, in part, the storyline of “Mean.”

“I’ve seen you fall, seen you crawl on your knees… wish I could make it better/ Some day you won’t remember/ This pain you thought would last forever and ever,” she sings.

The song was written with fun.‘s Jack Antonoff, who hinted that it’s not only featured on the soundtrack for the British film One Chance but was inspired by a certain well-known director from the ’80s.

While Antonoff is clearly a fan of Swift, earlier this year Taylor shared her surprise that actress Lena Dunham (and Antonoff’s girlfriend) was a fan of her music.

“Lena Dunham is this girl who is so incredibly talented,” Taylor told Great American Country. “She’s a writer, director and actress who stars in this show called Girls on HBO. It’s my friends and I’s favorite show. I’ve always been really blown away by how she’s so young — she’s in her mid-20s – and she does all these things. She creates so much. When I found out that she listens to my music it absolutely floored me. It made my day, honestly.”
