With 2013 already a banner year for high-profile hip-hop albums, thanks to headline-generating releases from the likes of Kanye West, Drake, Pusha T, Jay Z and more, Florida rap kingpin Rick Ross has announced that he too will be throwing a full-length of his own into the mix before the year is out.

Ross took to his Twitter account today (Oct. 9) to reveal that Mastermind, his sixth studio album, will hit the streets on December 17, just in time to make it a Maybach Music Group kind of holiday for his legions of fans.

Ross has continued to Tweet out images that could very well be the cover art for Mastermind, although there is still no indication if any of them will indeed grace the front of Ross’ latest long-playing opus.

Mastermind will follow the rapper’s 2012 album, God Forgives, I Don’t, which boasted such singles as “Hold Me Back” and “So Sophisticated” (Ross also released The Black Bar Mitzvah mixtape last year).

The routinely topless rhymer has already announced an 8-city Mastermind tour, which kicks off in Detroit on November 12 and wraps up in his home base of Miami on November 23, just in time for Thanksgiving. Ross will be backed up by the band 1500 or Nothin‘ on the tour.

“It’s never been done like this,” Ross explained regarding the tour in a press release. “We’ll be performing everything from ‘Tears of Joy’ to ‘Aston Martin Music,’ all with a live band.  It’s time to remind everyone what Maybach Music is all about.”
