The boys of Mumford & Sons will wait for you, but sometimes a guy’s gotta shed the overalls and awake their souls at a famous strip club in the American South after a show.

The London folk rockers were among the attendees at Atlanta’s Clermont Lounge Tuesday night (Sept. 10) following a show at the city’s Centennial Olympic Park and, according to Paste, were thrown out after a scuffle between the band and Clermont employees.

The news was initially reported after Macon musician JuBee of hip hop/funk/rock fusion JuBee and The Morning After posted to his Facebook that the band was “at the Clermont Lounge with us. Lolz.” JuBee told Starcasm that touring fiddle player Ross Holmes was singing karaoke when he was interrupted by the night’s host, which sparked a confrontation that led to the band’s ejection.

“They were being rude to security and they were taking pictures and you’re not allowed to take pictures in here,” an anonymous Clermont employee confirmed to Paste. “Apparently there were some words said and someone cursed out the security staff.”

The Clermont Lounge is known for not being your typical strip club. As Atlanta’s oldest club, the lounge prides itself on being incredibly authentic. Anthony Bourdain called the place “on a whole other level” earlier this year on his Travel Channel show The Layover, which is fairly accurate. Want strippers that fit into the general prototype of what “sexy” is? That’s not the case at the Clermont, whose biggest star is the bodacious Blondie. It’s also about dive bar-y as dive bars can get. Not your upscale joint, in other words.

Apparently, the scuffle was calmed down before it could turn into any sort of dust bowl dance, avoiding a police call of any sort. In fact, it would likely have been non-news if it wasn’t, you know, Mumford & Sons.

The Clermont doesn’t seem to want to let the band choke on the noose around their necks, though. The club thanked Mumford for coming out to visit Tuesday night.

Perhaps the lounge thought it was not the band’s fault, but theirs?

Sigh, no more easy Mumford jokes.
