It’s not easy being R. Kelly. On his latest single, “My Story” featuring 2 Chainz, the singer focuses on his journey from being broke in Chicago to “sleeping in Versace shirts.” Clearly, he’s come a long way.
In the mostly black and white clip for the song off his upcoming album Black Panties, the singer shows his fans what it’s really like being R. Kelly with shots of him onstage performing, as well as him just hanging out. We see him eating steak, skateboarding, watching fireworks, shooting hoops–he even makes a half court shot–and hanging out with strippers. You know, just a normal day for R. Kelly.
Kelly recently teamed up with Phoenix for a remix of their song “Trying To Be Cool.” On the track he also gives a few details about his everyday life, letting us all know when he walks into the club he’s “gonna holler at the honeys…have a few laughs, take a few shots and throw a little money.”
Black Panties, which is the conceptual followup to Kelly’s 1993 breakout album, 12 Play, is due out later this year.
