While at a radio station in  Australia, Miguel took a stab at covering Pink’s “Just Like A Pill.” An interesting choice, given the fact the “Adorn” singer didn’t seem to know the lyrics to the song, looking to his iPhone every so often for a little help.

But with just an acoustic guitar, Miguel slowed things down and got to the heart of the track, which was featured on Pink’s 2001 album, M!Ssundaztood. Using his smooth delivery he turned the pop song into, well… a Miguel song.

Pink, who recently won a VMA for “Just Give Me a Reason,” her duet with Nate Ruess from fun., wrote “Just Like A Pill” about her own problems with drug addiction. “I was never allowed to go over to any of my friends’ houses when I was little, because I was the bad influence,” Pink told the Sunday Telegraph in 2007 (via People). “None of their parents liked me and my own parents were scared to death of me — and for me.”

After finishing his trek Down Under, Miguel is heading back to the U.S. for Jay Z’s Made In America Festival this Labor Day weekend before kicking off a fall tour with Drake and Future.
