Just days before Miley Cyrus scandalized the world with a shocking twerk-fest during her performance at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (you might’ve heard about it?), Academy Award-winning rapper Juicy J created a booty-shaking controversy of his very own.

The rapper took to Twitter on August 22 to announce that he was offering $50,000 “to the best chick that can twerk,” generating outrage from a range of pundits, including one who was moved to offer up a list of alternative scholarship competitions in lieu of “perpetuating misogynistic narratives in hip hop and pop culture,” such as music production prowess and that old standby, good grades.

While Juicy J quickly deleted the tweet, the rapper was moved to go forward with the scholarship competition, but instead of judging the young women on their twerking abilities, he’s asking for a video explanation as to why they’re worthy of the $50,000 in tuition money.

In partnership with notorious website World Star Hip Hop, the “Juicy J Scholarship Competition” is offering up the cash to one female student between the ages of 18 to 25 who’s currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 year accredited college or university. The women will be judged on “their assets and creativity,” adding that “grades are optional,” according to a press release (contest details can be found here).

The contest runs through September 30, when fans will be able to vote for the top 10 most popular entrants. Juicy J himself will choose the ultimate winner from those 10 clips.

The competition was inspired by Juicy J’s song “Scholarship,” which features A$AP Rocky appears on the rapper’s full-length debut, Stay Trippy, which hit stores this week on August 27.
