Nine Inch Nails are currently touring the international festival circuit, but back in June, Trent Reznor and co. were in the midst of rehearsals for their first tour since 2009. Now fans can hear these practice sessions, thanks to a rather sneaky audio guy.

According to a post on Reddit yesterday (Aug. 25), “a guy…who said he was working with the NIN production team while they were rehearsing” was bragging that he had a two-hour recording of a full set from the studio, complete with Reznor giving notes during the songs. He later uploaded the audio online for fans to download.

The studio session, recorded in L.A., stays true to the setlist that fans have been seeing at NIN’s recent festival stops, including Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival. The recording features new songs like “Copy Of A,” “Came Back Haunted” and “Find My Way” from their upcoming album, Hesitation Marks, out Sept. 3.

Close your eyes while playing and it’s almost like you’re at the show, without all those lights flashing at you.

Speaking of those lights, Reznor took to Twitter yesterday to talk about his performance at the Reading Festival later that night. He tweeted that the stage design, which was inspired by the Talking Heads’ concert film Stop Making Sense, might be different than what he originally expected: “Should be an unusual show tonight at Reading… the lying promoter and the band following us (whoever the f*** they are) f***** us on our production.”

According to NME, Melvin Benn, one of the English festival’s bosses, later said, “The truth is there’s no truth in the statement. The contract hasn’t changed since they signed up to it.”

The band following NIN was Scottish rock group Biffy Clyro, who’ve yet to comment on Reznor’s claims.

NIN hit the states for their Tension 2013 Tour starting Sept. 28 in St. Paul, Minn.
