Eminem Drops New Single ‘Survival,’ Announces Fall Album
The clip starts with footage from the violent game as a female voice (Liz Rodrigues of New Royales) sings, “This is survival of the fittest/This is do or die.”
With the sounds of gunshots flying, Eminem starts in, “Wasn’t ready to be a millionaire/I was ill-prepared/I was prepared to be ill though, the skill was there.”
Backed by a crunchy guitars, Eminem proves Shady’s back, rapping, “I’m back again with another anthem… it doesn’t have to end, it ain’t over till I say it’s over. Enough when I say enough.”
Earlier today (August 14), Em tweeted to let fans know that they might want to check out a Call of Duty press conference. Turns out he had a big announcement of his own. At the press conference, Eminem revealed his eighth album would be out this fall; no exact date or title revealed. This will be his first album since 2010’s Recovery.
Though this is the first new single from Eminem in a few years, fans have been anticipating an album announcement from him. Back in February, Shady Records President Paul Rosenberg hinted at a 2013 release for Eminem’s latest.
“He’s been working on it for some time,” Rosenberg told Billboard. “It’s safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we’re not exactly sure when. We’ve got some dates locked in for him to perform live in Europe in August, so we’re trying to see what else lines up.”
Recently, Em recorded a track called “Symphony in H” for DJ Tony Tough’s latest mixtape. He also performed in New York earlier this month as part of watch company G-Shock’s 30th anniversary, where he played an hour-long set that didn’t feature any new songs.
