“Roar,” Katy Perry’s new single, leaked online Saturday (Aug. 10). As a result her label, Capitol Records, has given approval to all radio stations to start playing it. It was previously slated to premiere on radio stations Monday (Aug. 12) morning.

The first single off Perry’s forthcoming Prism, “Roar” has an anthemic pop sensibility more in line with Florence and the Machine than Britney or Rihanna. Its lyrics have a fighter mentality, with Perry belting about coming back stronger than ever after some emotional stuff (like a divorce perhaps?).

Perry has been leaking teasers for the track all week long, starting with a video where she lit her famous blue wig on fire. On Friday, a teaser called “Satin Cape” followed, showing Perry in the jacket she dons in the single’s cover art (above) and featuring a mere 10 seconds of the track.

Prism, Perry’s fourth album, is slated for release Oct. 22. Here are some directions we think she could go in with the release, which she announced via gold semi-trucks.
