Good news for Randy Travis fans. The country superstar was released from the Plano, Texas hospital yesterday, where he’s been for the past few weeks after suffering heart problems and, later, a stroke.

Travis’s public relations firm Webster & Associates released a statement late yesterday, which said that he’d been “discharged from Baylor Heart in Plano, Texas” and “relocated to a physical therapy facility.” The name of the latter facility has not yet been released.

Mary Davis, Travis’ fiancee, also issued a statement, saying “Thanks to all the fans and friends for your continued prayers and support as Randy continues on the road to recovery.”

Travis’ doctors had earlier released a video statement describing the singer’s condition, noting that he’d likely need to remain hospitalized for a couple weeks “to stabilize his heart during which time we will begin aggressive physical therapy.” The doctors also noted that they “anticipate it will take months” for Travis to recover from his stroke.

One of country music’s biggest stars since the 1980s, Travis had only recently just released a new single, “Tonight I’m Playing Possum.” Recorded with Joe Nichols, the song is a tribute to his friend, the late George Jones.
