John Mayer‘s summer is gearing up to be a busy one. Currently on the road for his Born and Raised World Tour, Mayer announced today (July 16) that his sixth studio album Paradise Valley will drop August 20.

Fans can pre-order the album on iTunes and instantly receive a download of “Wildfire,” one of 11 tracks on the release. While previous single “Paper Doll” gives a hint at what to expect from the LP, “Wildfire” showcases Mayer’s laid-back style with handclapped rhythms, familiar wavering guitar and Mayer’s signature vocals. Aspiring toward summer anthem status, Mayer sings: “You look fine, fine fine/Put your feet up next to mine/We can watch that water line get higher and higher…You and me been catching on like wildfire.”

The track features a surprisingly higher register for Mayer midway through as he reminds us all that, “A little bit of summer makes a lot of history.” Watch the lyric video below set to the backdrop of his summer tour.

In May, Mayer dropped a video of himself in the studio via Facebook to announce that he’s been working on his sixth studio album. One month later he released the first single off Paradise Valley, “Paper Doll.” Some questioned if the song was about former flame Taylor Swift with a possible dig at the singer.

“You’re like 22 girls in one and none of them know what they’re running from/Was it just too far to fall for a little paper doll?” he sings on the chorus.

Swift is not the only girl he’s singing about, though. At his tour opener earlier this month he dedicated a song to ex-girlfriend Katy Perry. According to Rolling Stone, Mayer prefaced the last song in his set, “A Face To Call Home” off of 2012′s Born and Raised, with uncharacteristically kind words for Perry, whom he called his “face to call home.”

“She was so patient,” he said, adding that she took the time “to continue to get to know me and love me” despite his vocal impairment.

Whether or not a song on his new album was inspired by Perry… well, we’ll just have to wait until August 20. Feel free to dissect the song titles below, though.

1. Wildfire
2. Dear Marie
3. Waiting on the Day
