Mariah Carey Lands In Hospital During ‘#Beautiful’ Remix Video Shoot

Update (7/10, 1:30 p.m. EST) Two days after the accident Mariah Carey tweeted out a light-hearted photo of herself in the hospital to let fans know that she was recovering just fine.

Her husband Nick Cannon, who directed the shoot, appeared on the Today Show to give a few more details about the extent of her injuries.

“It was pretty serious,” he said. “Not only did she dislocate her shoulder, she actually cracked a rib and … she chipped her shoulder bone.”

Cannon added that the accident was a result of an on-set slip, explaining that Mariah was wearing a “nice, beautiful gown, heels on and everything, and was kind of on this platform and reached and slipped and fell on her whole side.”

Mariah Carey went to the hospital Sunday night (July 7) after dislocating her shoulder on the set of her new video, which was directed by her husband Nick Cannon.

The singer’s spokeswoman, Cindi Berger, confirmed that Carey was injured while filming the clip for the remix of “#Beautiful” featuring rapper Young Jeezy. Carey was taken to New York’s Hospital For Special Surgery.

In a statement, Berger said “doctors reset her shoulder” and that Carey was recovering at home.

Carey will still perform with the New York Philharmonic this Saturday (July 13) on Central Park’s Great Lawn for the 2013 MLB All-Star Charity concert. The show will benefit those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The singer’s latest single “#Beautiful” featuring Miguel will appear on her upcoming album, The Art Of Letting Go, but will not be out on July 23 as originally expected. Carey recently announced via Twitter that she’d “rather not exclude meaningful songs.”

“I want to give you this album as it’s meant to be heard,” she wrote. “When I’m ready, you’ll be the first to know.”
