Chris Brown Lashes Out At ‘Ridiculous’ Hit And Run Charge

After being formally charged by the Los Angeles City Attorney for hit-and-run and driving without a license stemming from a traffic incident this past May, Chris Brown has taken to his Twitter account to fire back at his accuser.

Going so far as to post an image of the alleged hit-and-run victim’s bumper and license plate as his profile picture (which he has since updated to a photo of the driver taking a photo of her bumper), Brown decried the driver of the other car as looking for a “payday,” calling the charges “ridiculous.”

“I can confirm that the City Attorney’s Office did file two misdemeanor charges against rapper Chris Brown that includes hit and run and driving without a valid license,” said Frank Mateljan, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, told by phone today (June 25). “Charges stem from a minor traffic incident in May (May 21) of 2013. The maximum exposure on both of these charges total is one year in jail and is arraignment is set for July 15 in Van Nuys Superior Court.”

The charges come on the heels of Brown being accused of assaulting a woman at an Orange County, Calif., nightclub this week. It’s an accusation the singer has vehemently denied, with the owner of Heat Ultra Lounge in Anaheim, Calif., publicly backing Brown’s claim of a false report.
