Miguel was (literally) kicking with excitement during his Billboard Music Awards performance. But his miscalculated jump is landing him in some hot water.

The cringe-worthy moment happened while the singer was crooning “Adorn” during the May 20 telecast. He attempted to leap from the main stage to a smaller platform a few feet away, but he didn’t quite stick the landing. Instead, he landed on fan Khyati Shah, who reportedly is now considering taking legal action against the singer.

Shah’s attorney, Vip Bhola, told E! that while she seemed fine immediately following the incident, her injuries have worsened over time.

After Miguel’s performance, Shah was ushered backstage for an interview with Billboard where she was seen smiling while holding an ice pack to her elbow. When asked what she thought of the crooner, she seemed in high spirits, joking that she “adorn(s) him.”

However, Bhola says the fan was shocked and starstruck, and is actually in worse condition than the clip shows. Bhola has not yet spoken to Miguel’s legal representatives, but said the decision to file a lawsuit will be made soon, saying, “We will determine that after we have feedback from medical providers.”

In the same interview, Miguel called Shah his “new friend” even though they “did not meet under the best circumstances.”

“Well I think it’s kind of clear what happened,” Miguel said. “The crazy thing is, when you’re performing and you’re just kind of into it, you never know where it’s gonna go and where you’re gonna go with it, and how that might turn out. So this is one of the less favorable moments.”

The singer also attempted a bit of damage control, tweeting Shah a shout out the following day where he explained that he “got caught up in the moment.” The post was later deleted.
