Taylor Swift‘s music comes to life on next week’s season finale of New Girl. On the episode, titled “Elaine’s Big Day,” Swift plays the role of Elaine at CeCe and Shivrang’s wedding.
In a new photo released from the episode, Swift is shown standing up with her hands clenched on her heart as she seems to be speaking out about the nuptials. Not an entirely new plot line for Swift, she sings about a similar situation on her song “Speak Now,” the title track off her 2010 release.
“I am not the kind of girl who should be rudely barging in on a white veil occasion/But you are not the kind of boy who should be marrying the wrong girl,” she sings.
While complete details have yet to emerge, New Girl Creator and Executive producer Liz Meriwether raved about Swift’s guest role.
“She was amazing. She’s a fantastic actress. She did such a good job,” Meriwether told E! Online. “Our set is a fun set to come to, but it’s also a little bit crazy because there’s a lot of improv and people shouting out extra jokes and she completely held her own and did such a great job with it. She fits in great. She’s really, really great in the finale. It’s really funny.”
In the episode, Swift will be wearing white to the wedding and New Girl costume designer Deb McGuire told Entertainment Weekly that Swift hand-selected the dress herself.
“I had this image of [Taylor’s character] standing up and being in white, because CeeCee, the bride, is in red, because it’s an Indian wedding,” McGuire said. “It’s sort of a pun that she’s this white girl in this white, American [outfit]. She’s as wholesomely American as possible. [Taylor and I] went through the racks together and picked out her favorites. This was the first [one she tried on] and the best.”
Could Swift be the one barging in on CeCe’s white veil occasion? Fans will just have to tune in next week on the season finale to find out.
