Death Metal Guitarist Calls 911 On His Own Meth Lab
Allen West, the former guitarist for death metal bands Six Feet Under and Obituary is currently behind bars at the Sumter County Jail in Bushnell, FL, after police discovered the makings of a methamphetamine lab at his Lake Panasoffkee home.
According to the Tri-County Sun Times, West had called 911 to report two male intruders had “forcibly entered his house by kicking in the front door.” The guitarist allegedly ran out of his back door and into nearby woods for safety.
While there’s no indication that the responding Sumter County deputies located any such intruders, what they did discover was a “strong acidic odor from the bedroom.” They found plastic bottles, tubing and other materials consistent with those used to produce methamphetamine.
After further questioning regarding some of the items found hidden inside a cooler, West admitted that “they were cooking it,” with no clarification as to who “they” might be.
Maintaining that the materials weren’t his own, the guitarist eventually confessed to producing and smoking meth in the home as recently as the past two weeks. Ammonium nitrate, sodium hydroxide and lithium strips were among the recovered items.
Current Six Feet Under vocalist Chris Barnes tweeted his support for the beleaguered guitarist with a link to the news report.

The Tri-County Sun Times confirmed West was arrested for production and possession of a controlled substance, specifically methamphetamine, and is being held on a $40,000 bond.
Six Feet Under is scheduled for a slew of concert dates as part of the Hell in July tour with such bands as Cannabis Corpse, Decrepit Birth and Dealy Plaza.
