As EDM continues to permeate the current musical landscape, two of the scene’s leading forces have come together to form a virtual DJ super-group.

Genre-defying producer Diplo has teamed up with dubstep superstar Skrillex to form a new project coined Jack U, which will debut at this summer’s tour of Mad Decent Block Parties. (Mad Decent is, of course, Diplo’s record label, which released Baauer’s monster hit and viral phenomenon, “Harlem Shake.”)

The announcement came via Diplo’s Twitter feed, after fans began publicly inquiring about Jack U when the act was listed as a featured performer on the upcoming Block Parties alongside such artists as Major Lazer, Matt & Kim, Dillon Francis and Riff Raff. As of press time, Jack U is only slated to appear on the tour’s final stop, which is in San Diego, CA, on September 15.

Skrillex and Diplo partnered with DJ A-Trak earlier this year to launch a new YouTube channel called Potato, which debuted with a clip regarding the rich electronic music history of Detroit, Michigan.

It was recently revealed that Diplo would be at the center of an upcoming big-screen movie for 20th Century Fox about a group of festival-goers hoping to deliver a demo tape to the famed producer. The film has been described as “8 Mile meets Project X in tone.”
