Muse Dedicates ‘Star Spangled Banner’ To Boston

While America is still reeling from the horrific bombings at the Boston Marathon on Monday (April 15), tributes continue to pour in for those most directly affected by the tragic event from people around the world.

Celebrities and musicians are no exception, with many taking to social networks in reaction to the tragic event, including New Kids on the Block member Joey McIntyre, who finished the marathon just moments before the explosions rocked downtown Boston.

According to Business Insider, the British band Muse has stepped up to show their support for the city during a concert this past Monday night (April 15) at New York’s Madison Square Garden, mere hours after the bombing.

“This is for Boston,” shouted the band’s frontman Matt Bellamy at one point in the show, followed by the band performing a rousing rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” as the audience cheered enthusiastically.

Muse has been known to perform America’s National Anthem in concert, with numerous videos posted online of the band playing it over the years. But none of those performances carried the emotional weight of this special dedication in light of such tragic events.

Muse has only one U.S. date (April 19 in East Rutherford, New Jersey) before heading north to Canada for a string of concerts in the Quebec area before heading overseas for a slew of shows across Europe.
