The 2010 ACM winners of Top New Vocal Group, Gloriana shared what they’ve learned from awards shows with Radio.com.
“Don’t let the pressure and the nerves and stress and all that get to you, and just really enjoy the moment,” Rachel Reinert said. “All of it goes by so fast. We’re getting better about it now, at really just enjoying and taking it all in and really living in the moment, being present. I would say that’s really the biggest thing.”
Her bandmate Tom Gossin agreed.
“I think of it like the Olympics, where you have the best athletes in the world and only one person gets to win the gold medal. It doesn’t mean the other people aren’t amazing as well,” he said. “To even be recognized, to be at those awards shows . . . actually some of the most fun we’ve ever had at awards shows was when we weren’t up for anything. So I would say to newcomers, just have fun. Be so glad to be there.”
Each Gloriana bandmember also filled us in on just where the keep their ACM trophy. While Reinert keeps hers at her apartment for everyone to see, brothers Tom and Mike Gossin had a different place for their award.
“I live with my fiancé and she works from home, so she has an office setup, and I put it on her desk so that all day long she’s remembering how cool her boyfriend is,” Tom said.
“I have mine in my recording studio in my house,” Mike said. “Right above the computer screen, so it’s inspiration while you’re making music or writing something. Just staring at it. Chasing the dream again.”
The 48th ACM Awards air live on CBS on Sunday, April 7.
