Justin Bieber Investigated On Battery Charges: L.A. County Sheriff Confirms
Justin Bieber has made headlines again, this time after alleged assault against his neighbor at his Calabasas home in California.
Reports from TMZ began circulating yesterday afternoon, claiming that Bieber was being investigated for battery against his neighbor.
Radio.com spoke with Steve Whitmore, a spokesperson from L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, about the incident, which is currently under investigation.
“We received a call at 9:08 yesterday morning,” Whitmore said. “We believe the alleged incident happened at 8:15 yesterday morning. There have been allegations made against Mr. Bieber of simple battery and also allegations that Mr. Bieber made threats against his neighbor. There was no injury there were no charges of a trial, nobody was arrested. It’s an ongoing investigation.”
While Whitmore couldn’t talk about the specifics, he explained that simple battery is unwanted touching that could include touching somebody’s elbow, patting them on the back, spitting on them or throwing water on them.
When asked about rumors of loud partying and excessive speeding, he said it’s simply “chatter.”
“The objective is that we’ll get to the bottom of this and find out what exactly did or did not happen,” Whitmore said. “The investigation dictates the time. They do take time. This will not turn around quickly.”
This incident follows Bieber’s questionable public behavior from earlier in the week when he walked through airport security topless in Lodz, Poland.
“And to those comparing me to Lindsay Lohan look at her 2012 tax statements,” he wrote.
But in recent months, the comparison doesn’t seem so far-fetched. Lohan has been in and out of the courts this year after being arrested on assault charges as well as lying to police officers. She recently agreed to time in rehab, which she will be enrolled in by May 2.
Bieber addressed the rumors of his own stint in rehab in the aforementioned Instagram rant, saying: “Everyone in my team has been telling me, ‘keep the press happy,’ but I’m tired of all the countless lies in the press right now. Saying I’m going to rehab and how my family is disappointed in me. My family is beyond proud, and nothing’s been said by them, my grandparents wouldn’t know how to reach to press even of they did want to, so that was a lie and rehab, c’mon. If anyone believes I need rehab, that’s their own stupidity…”
