This weekend Justin Timberlake returned to Saturday Night Live for his fifth stint as host. The most-watched episode in 14 months, Timberlake made headlines when he inserted a Kanye diss into the lyrics for “Suit & Tie.”
“My hit’s so sick got rappers acting dramatic,” Timberlake sang, instead of, “Aww, s*** so sick, got a hit and picked up a habit.”
The apparent dig at Kanye West had many wondering if the beef between the two stars had escalated. Last month, West took the stage at a headlining show in London to rant about the GRAMMYs, corporations, Jay-Z and Timberlake. “I got love for Hov, but I ain’t f*****’ with that ‘Suit & Tie,'” West said.
Timberlake cleared up the apparent feud last night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
“Did it seem that way? I don’t remember that? Did I change a line? It is live,” Timberlake said. “You know, really everyone keep calm. Keep calm.”
To which Fallon quipped, “Keep calm and Kanye on.”
But then Timberlake actually acknowledged the rumors: “For the record I absolutely love Kanye. So, there’s that. We love Kanye, right?”
And as for the lyric swap, Timberlake claims he can’t remember changing them.
What do you think of all this?
